EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley looks unrecognizable as a ’60s bartender in Krays’ biopic Legend before becoming an Albert Square regular

EastEnders legend Lorraine Stanley appeared in a Krays biopic with Tom Hardy before landing her role on the BBC soap opera.

The 45-year-old actress – who plays Karen Taylor – made her first appearance in Albert Square in 2017 alongside her two children, Bernie and Keanu.

She was seen in a number of roles before her big break – including Call the Midwife, Holby City and The Bill.

Lorraine has transformed into a fan-favorite Karen and looks drastically different from her many other roles, especially the biographical crime thriller Legend.

The film – released in 2015 – saw Tom play twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray, two of London’s most feared gangsters during their heyday in the 1960s.

The soap star swapped Karen’s iconic messy bun for the role of bartender at the Blind Beggar pub.

His EastEnders persona is known for his scruffy sets and looking a bit rough around the edges.

However, Lorraine has shown countless times at red carpet events that she can work a glamorous ensemble, proving she’s a far cry from her on-screen persona.

In January 2020, Lorraine shared a handful of black-and-white snaps on her Twitter from filming Legend.

Lorraine beamed next to Tom – who was dressed as Reggie Kray – as she put on her barmaid costume.

Her hair was styled in a short bun, looking completely opposite to her long blonde locks now.
