‘Pipa’: Movie Review on Netflix 2022

pipa is an Argentine thriller film directed by Alexandre Montielfeaturing Luisana Lopilato.

An interesting thriller for this Wednesday that probably won’t disappoint you.

Synopsis

Exam

Pipa is an Argentinian thriller which is the third part of the trilogy ‘Los crimes del sur‘, Next ‘lost‘ (2018) and ‘The Corazonada‘ (2020). It leaves behind the urban crime thriller, while retaining the thriller touch, this time it takes us to the southern landscape of La Quebrada. It’s a good movie that takes a 180 degree turn in its plot, and the handling of the narrative structure, and its pacing. It’s well suited to the new style of opaque, dark westerns, and it has a hint of ‘A Touch of Evil’ (Orson Welles).

The film stands out in particular for the direction, and for the care taken in filming, from the frames to the actual delivery of the script lines, which are short, but well done and worked enough to tell a story, while avoiding the juggling acts that are outside the realm of the thriller genre.

It is concise because it has no other choice, given the thematic complexity of the novel. Which covers a myriad of topics (as a good novel should), taking us on a journey through a diversity of topics, such as politics, corruption, romances, and a variety of characters that are intertwined in the plot. This film is well directed, and overall well produced.

Our opinion

It’s a good thriller that doesn’t pretend to be more than that. He doesn’t challenge conventions, nor the immense influence of Hollywood on cinema.

He dares to tackle complex subjects, carried by good productions, and a highly professional company, no doubt.
