QuanticDreamHeavyRain

Heavy rain (PS3, PS4 and Microsoft Windows)

Heavy rain is a 2010 video game developed by Quantic Dream. The story of the game revolves around the lives of four playable characters – Ethan Mars, Scott Shelby, Norman Jayden, and Madison Paige – who are involved in the mystery of The origami killer. The game takes its name from the serial killer’s favorite time to kill: during times of heavy rain. The premise of the game is to explore the themes of parenthood, consequences, guilt, and redemption.

There are many different gameplay elements in Heavy Rain, including player-made narrative choices that will change how subsequent scenes play out in the story. QTE (Quick Time Events) puts players in command of one of four characters for short periods of time to avoid certain death or clear an obstacle, and a detective mode (used by Norman Jayden), used to investigate scenes of crime. Ethan is motivated by his need to find his missing son and will go through hell and return to save his child.

QuanticDreamStarWarsEclipse

Star Wars: Eclipse (to be confirmed) – In collaboration with Lucasfilm Games

A Star wars Early development game is currently being developed by Quantic Dream in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Star Wars: Eclipse takes place in the High Republic era of the Star Wars universe and was revealed during The Game Awards 2021. The era of the High Republic takes place 200 years before the events of The phantom menace. Interesting to see another studio working on a Star Wars game after Respawn entertainment have done well with their own Star Wars game, Star Wars: Fallen Order. EA basically teased that a sequel to this game was almost inevitable, but no further information has been released yet. So until then, Star Wars fans can look forward to this game! At the moment, there is no current release date, and this is the first time Quantic Dream as a studio has worked on a game set in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars: Eclipse will be their first collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

Conclusion

Quantic Dream is a video game studio worthy of your attention if the above list doesn’t show you. With its fantastic approach to storytelling, Quantic Dream is a video game development studio that has been making games for over 20 years. They might not have the most comprehensive game library out there, but the games they do have are definitely worth it. Every video game that they release is of high quality and the talent that they draw for those games is important. Their next game, Star Wars: Eclipse, will certainly continue its trend towards quality.

Editorial Note: Claims Regarding the Hostile Work Environment of Quantic Dream

Following the release of Detroit: Become Human, allegations were made against Quantic Dream, claiming a hostile workplace. The company has been accused of sexism and racism (with alleged photoshopped images of Nazis), and workers claimed they were frequently ridiculed and humiliated by management. It is alleged that there are over 600 photoshoped images, and PC Duck even included some of them in their item (NSFW: extreme content warning!). Additionally, allegations were also made against David Cage, in which he allegedly made sexually inappropriate comments to female colleagues. The company and David have denied the charges, filing a libel action against The world and others. They won their lawsuit against Le Monde in 2021 but lost against Mediapart.

As these are charges and are currently being prosecuted, we will not go into details. However, we believe it is essential to broach the subject. It will be interesting to see what develops from these claims, as well as whether they impact the long-term prospects of Quantic Dream.
