Queen’s Gambit and X-Men stars join comedy thriller

The Queen’s Gambitby Anya Taylor-Joy and X Men Star Nicholas Hoult to team up for new comedy-thriller film The menu.

Hollywood journalist writes that Hoult is in final talks to join Taylor-Joy in the film, who also added No time to die actor Ralph Fiennes and Watchmen star Hong Chau at the casting.

The menu focuses on a young couple who travel to a remote island to eat at an exclusive restaurant, where the chef has prepared a lavish menu – but there are a few shocking surprises in store.

The Searchlight Pictures film will see a mini Succession reunion, with director Mark Mylod and screenwriter Will Tracy, both of whom worked on the HBO series, attached to The menu. The screenplay was co-written by Late night with Seth Meyers writer Seth Reiss.

Presenter director Adam McKay and Betsy Koch are slated to produce via Hyperobject Industries.

The two main stars have had a busy few years on screen. Both actors were involved in the X Men universe, with Hoult playing Hank McCoy / Beast in several X Men films and Taylor-Joy with Illyana Rasputin / Magik in The new mutants.

Taylor-Joy has also directed films Emma and Last night in Soho, as well as appearing in television series, including Peaky Blinders and The Miniaturist. Her main role as chess champion Beth Harmon in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit has also earned him a series of awards.

Hoult, meanwhile, had major roles in Oscar-winning film. The favourite, Comedy-drama Hulu Great and biographical drama Tolkien.

There’s no word yet on when we might see The menu.
