Samantha Morton cast as lead in Paramount + Burning Girls series
Deadline reports that Samantha Morton will join Bridgerton’s Ruby Stokes in the Paramount + series Hot girls. Morton is known in The Walking Dead universe for her portrayal of Alpha/Dee in The Walking Dead and its spin-off series Tales of the living dead.
Burning Girls is a thriller based on a novel by CJ Tudor of Buccaneer Media. Morton will play Reverend Jack Brooks, who, after the death of her husband, tries to make a fresh start in Chapel Croft with his daughter Flo (Stokes). In the shadow of the tragedy of their old church, the couple discovers that the new village also has its conspiracies and secrets to confront.
Additional cast includes John Macmillan, Elodie Grace Orkin, Conrad Khan, Jack Roth, Jane Lapotaire, Safia Oakley-Green, Beth Cordingly, Paul Bradley, Mollie Holder, Janie Dee, Rupert Graves and David Dawson.
This series is part of Paramount+ UK Commissions with doll factory, which is an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Elizabeth Macneal.
Samantha Morton – The Serpent Queen and the Whale
On September 11, you can see the portrait of Catherine de Medici by Morton in the Starz series The Serpent Queen. This series is based on Leonie Frieda’s book, Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France.
Morton also stars in the movie A24 The whale, starring Brendan Frasier as Charlie, a 600-pound man who attempts to reconnect with his teenage daughter Ellie (Sadie Sink) after he abandons his family for his gay lover. After his lover’s death, Charlie became depressed and began gorging on food to get rid of pain and guilt. Morton plays Charlie’s ex-wife, Mary. The film debuted at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on September 4, 2022, where it received a 6-minute standing ovation. The film will be released in the United States on December 9.
