Suspense thriller ‘Takas’ to premiere on February 15 – Manila Bulletin

“Takas” made its strong presence felt on social media after its trailer garnered over a million views in four days.

Produced by Hand Held Entertainment Productions, the thriller thriller stars Teejay Marquez, David Chua and Janelle Lewis. Marvin Yap, Rob Sy and John “Sweet” Lapus and Easy Ferrer are also featured. It is directed by Ray An Dulay.

“Takas” will air from February 15 to 19. Tickets are now available worldwide at KTX and for only P249.

The film revolves around two main characters: Jake (Teejay Marquez) and Belle (Janelle Lewis). Rob (David Chua), Jake’s best friend, is the protagonist.

Jake is a celebrity, while Belle is a simple woman. They met an unfortunate fate. Just when they thought they had survived the crisis, a dark secret was exposed. It tells the story of a star’s survival at the hands of a psychopath.

Dulay, director of “Takas”, is a pioneering independent director. He began his showbiz career with a starring role in “Bath House,” a film by veteran director Cris Pablo.

Then he starred in other mainstream movies and TV series. He completed his directing workshop at the UP Film Institute under the direction of Maryo J. Delos Reyes.

His directorial debut was “Potpot”, a story written by his wife Joyzell Regalario Dulay, won awards from several award-winning bodies. Later, he started producing movies “Palo-Palo” (2011) and “Turo-Turo” (2015), which starred AJ and Enchong Dee. It became a finalist in Metro Manila Film Festival New Wave Category. He now owns a production company and has also served as the marketing manager for several production teams.

Joyzell revealed that she wrote “Takas” 10 years ago. She said she was just waiting for the perfect time to bring it to the big screen.

Katrina Lyn Javier Polotan, also known as Kate Javier, is the producer of the film. Previously, Kate lived in Bermuda for 11 years and she just moved to the Philippines in 2018. She graduated with honors in accounting from the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila. “Takas” is his first project under Hand-Held Productions.

Kate said she plans to produce more films focused on the suspense-thriller genre. She has lined up “Takas Part 2” for her next project and will create the synopsis for the next film with her brother, who is a psychologist by profession.
