Three draws in three games for Ardmore Rovers
IT WAS a busy week of football for Wicklow sides as the Leinster Senior League continued for some and started in full for others.
n Wednesday August 24, Ardmore Rovers won their second consecutive senior game 1-1 on Sunday 1B as Ger Pender’s goal saw them draw with Ballyfermot Utd.
They managed three draws in three games in the division on Sunday August 28, as Drogheda Town left Wolfe Town Cumminty Center with a 0-0 draw.
On the same day, their Division Sunday 3 side lost 5-2 to Ballyoulster United at home, both of Ardmore’s goals coming from Conor Prunty.
Their senior Sunday 1B team will be looking to claim their first win of the season when they take on Oliver Bond Celtic on Friday September 2. It will be a tough task though, with the hosts currently top of the standings with three wins. from three.
On Saturday September 3, Ardmore’s Major Saturday 1C side kick off their season at Rush Athletic FC while on Sunday September 4 their Division Sunday 3 side are aiming to bounce back from their loss when they travel to Shankill with a departure at 11am.
On Friday August 26, Arklow Town hosted Castleknock Celtic at Travers Insurance Park in Senior Sunday 1A, only to come unstuck in a 3-0 loss that left them 11th in the table with a record one draw and one loss in two games.
Then, on Friday September 2, they will host Drumcondra FC.
Meanwhile, also on Friday, Greystones United remain fifth in the Senior Sunday 1 following a 1-1 draw with Willow Park, with both sides preserving an unbeaten start to the season. Greystones held the lead for much of the game before Willow netted the late equalizer.
Then on Sunday September 4, Greystones take on league leaders Kilbarrack United after two wins from two.
Enniskerry picked up a big 2-0 win over Rivervalley Rangers in the Sunday Major on Sunday August 28. Chris Greene and Gavin Howard scored the goals for the Wicklow club as they started the season in style.
Meanwhile, in Saturday Division 3 on Monday August 29, they played out a thrilling 4-4 draw at home to Rosemount Mulvey, with Danny Mulvey, Ian Redmond and Leon Kamlya scoring the goals.
That same team will be back in action on Saturday, September 3, when they meet the Rivervalley Rangers.
Finally, Blessington FC came out on the wrong end of an eight-goal thriller against Balscadden FC in the Premier on Sunday, despite goals from Mark Pepper, Paul Caffrey and Jack Hardy.
They will be looking to bounce back when they meet Boyne Rovers on Sunday September 4.
